Google Continues to Archive Old Newspapers So We are not Doomed to Repeat

  

  Google is continuing its effort to archive old newspapers to give us easy access to the days past.  The scanning and archiving of newspapers has been something Google has been hard at work at for 2 years already.  They have been working with the New York Times and the Washington post and are now expanding to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, "the first newspaper West of the Allegheny Mountains, to the Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph which has been in business for 244 years and makes it America’s oldest paper to still be around.

  Microsoft is hiring once again and this time it is for a passionate person looking to help create a user interface(UI), similar or close to the UI of Apple’s Time Machine.  The team wants someone to make backing up as simple as Time Machine,  but also incorporate Live Mesh into it as well.  Home Server could arguably be one of the best operating systems and interfaces it has ever made and it is nice to see them continuing to progress in the right direction,  Although Time Machine has been referred to as some of the worst UI for Apple.

Intel Now Shipping Solid State Drives

  

  Intel is now shipping their new Solid State Hard Drives.  The X18-M is a 1.8inch drive and X25-M is a 2.5inch drive for mainstream usage. The Intel X18-M and X25-M Mainstream SATA SSDs are available in 80 gigabyte (GB) capacities, with 160GB versions coming by the end of the year. "The 80GB drive achieves up to 250MB per second read speeds, up to 70MB per second write speeds."
