There have been rumors of a budget iPhone with a plastic back for some time now, but no evidence. This morning, tactus.com has leaked a supposed back to from an upcoming iPhone.
The case is slightly thicker than the current iPhone, but that is to be expected when creating a phone out of plastic. According to tactus.com, the back measures 0.4-0.6mm in thickness which makes it taller and wider than the iPhone 4 and 4S. The writer also claims they have heard that the internals of the budget iPhone will have an A5 processor, a 3.5 inch retina display, a 5MP camera, and be available in Black, White, Blue, Red and Yellow.
Tactus also states the phone will cost $300 outright which means in terms of US carrier subsidies that this iPhone would most likely be free. They are also claiming a launch date of October 15th.
This is the first we’re seeing of the potential “budget iPhone” and only time will tell if this is the actual back. The post does lose some credibility in claiming a set release date as Apple has been known to adjust those on the fly.
What do you think of a budget iPhone and is it something you would buy?
