Sony has partnered with the Max-Planck-Institute in Germany to create a flexible translucent display that renders images in single laser beams and ‘paints the pixels in different colors.’
What this means is that the film can be used in store windows or displays and produce a 3D image. The technology works by using a photosensitive chemical combined with a (polycarbonate) transparent sheet to create the screen, which forces the chemicals in the screen to emit light when an infrared lights (lasers) hit it hard.
Though not ready for commercial use just yet, all of the talks of 3D technology as of late, certainly means we are getting close to seeing 3d displays in stores and then our home.
