Aaron – you saved my sanity – thanks. Could not restore my son’s Gamertag, Xbox advice was to pay £100 to send back to Microsoft for a fix or buy a new one for £150. Thankfully my brother was a bit more savvy and did not agree with the experts, he found your video, we reset back to factory settings and successfully recovered the Gamertag. Thanks Again.

You only get charged for changing your gamer tag. You keep it until you change it.

Hey I’ve got a newier style 360 4gb .. Just thee other night it stopped connecting to my Internet/Xbox live ..
“It’s kinda showed signs once before a few months back”…. But I just logged out an back in and it was fine…
My Internet is 100% same as when it worked flawlessly. When I go run Internet setup it begins to try to read connection but stops an says cannot connect to Xbox live.. I just bought two days before Xbox gold 1 yr card subscription. That worked up nn till Internet connection problem arose.. I’ve done the manual way also to setup connection ,but end up where I was before……… It has had all its updates just when I got gold card..
That isn’t the issue either!!!!! Technically I’m stuck wanting to stomp it a new arrrssss, but know that doesn’t resolve ah thing…I’m to the point of wanting to buy the older style USB wireless adapter an see if it can bypass the internal wifi adapter. But i think it might end up in conflict of interest between both adapter tryin to work at once….
If anybody has something that I might have over looked or done please fill me in…

Hi Aaron, I was following your instructions, transferred our info to a USB, and then (apparently mistakenly) removed the USB before doing the reformatting. At the point where I was to answer “yes” to reformatting (and then would be prompted to enter the serial number) it began giving me and error message that says “a required storage device has been removed. your console will now restart” It can’t get past this no matter that I have replaced the USB. I’ve tried clearing the cache 3 times as some sites suggest, still get the same error message. Do you have any idea how I can get past this? Any help is greatly appreciated.
