Today Microsoft showed off its latest creation by way of two new smartphones. The once names “Turtle”, now known as Kin One is a small clamshell, slider, while the Projectt “Pink” phone is now known as Kin Two and is a typical slider phone with a full qwerty keyboard. Both phones are Microsoft’s replacement for the Sidekick branded phones now that they own Danger. They both have a pretty impressive feature set, with a custom version of the upcoming Windows Phone 7 platform and will be coming to Verizon in May. See full details after the jump.
Kin One is a small phone meant to fit in the palm of your hand and has a full qwerty slide out keyboard. The screen has a resolution of 320×240 screen, offers a 5 megapixel camera, and VGA video recording. Kin One also has 4GB of RAM of which cannot be expanded upon.
Kin Two has some pretty impressive specs. It has a resolution of 480 x 320, has an 8 megapixel camera, can record video in 720p HD and has 8GB of internal storage of which cannot be expanded.
Both phones contain the Nvidia Tegra processor which also resides in the Zune HD. That said, both Kin phones have capacitive touch screens and have the swoopy user interface similar to what you find on the Zune HD. The memory is not expandable as mentioned previously, but the platform allows unlimited cloud based storage which can be accessed on your computer as well as the phones. The phones heavily focus on social networking and should appeal to those on Verizon who don’t want to make the switch to iPhone or Android. No word on price yet, but again the phone should be out in May.
