Seagate today, announced they have expanded or made over their hard drive lineup. Their new flagship model is a 3.5 inch, 1.5TB running at 7200RPM called the FreeAgent XTreme. The connectivity options allow USB 2.0, Firewire 400 as well as eSATA. If you are using eSATA you can transfer files at up to 3GB per second. The drives are coming to retail in October and start at $160 for 500GB up to $300 for the 1.5TB.
Seagate also is launching a bunch of other models as well which include the "Slimmest" external hard drive available. The 2.5 inch hard drives also have an available dock instead of having to constantly use cables. Via the press release "FreeAgent Go portable storage solution slimmest external drive available today. At a height of only 12.5mm, the new FreeAgent Go easily fits in a pocket while still including all the advanced shock and vibration protection people have come to expect from Seagate. Another industry first, the new FreeAgent Go is the first external hard drive to offer a docking option, providing a practical way to move from the desk to the road, while leaving the hassle of fumbling with cables and locating USB ports to the history books."
