Wp7 for me, it’s very elegant and minimalistic.
One thing I don’t understand, why would you call the live tiles on WP7 boring? Actually is bigger and can have animation and iOS icons can do what?

WP7 is definately a lot nicer… very fluid and smooth. And this is on a year old Samsung focus running on a single core 1Ghz, I can only imagine it would be a lot faster on the HTC Titan or even the HTC Radar.

You should mention the inclusion of Office in WP7 by default. Also, applications in WP7 are just as stylized as applications in iOS. I do not understand your comments that iOS is more stylized? The music hub or the picture hub clearly shows the style of WP7, where there are more than just text on the screen. Outside of that, it seems like a 1-year old WP7 phone with a single core runs even smoother than the newer iPhone 4S.

That is coming from them being one solid color, not necessarily what is on them. So they aren’t really boring, I would like a bit more of a gradient or be able to change color of the tile individually is all.

True I should mention Office. When I say stylized I guess I should say they are all very similarly laid out. This is good and bad as in it never really changes much, but is easy to navigate.

Great video, good work. Hope to see more.

You should show off the multitasking UI (hold down the back button).
Also show off how you can hold down the start button to initiate voice commands for all sorts of different things.
Also show off more Bing. Specifically the voice guided directions.
Show how you can go directly to the camera even when the device is locked.
(I recommend the Accuweather app, its double sided live tile is way more impressive)
Last but NOT LEAST, SHOW THE GROUPS feature in WP7! That is the single greatest way to keep up with the most important people in your life! People hub is ok, but groups kick ass!

Great honest Review, looks like Windows Phone for me ! AWESOME !
Great honest Review, looks like Windows Phone for me ! AWESOME !
I liked the review, it felt like a feature list , it would nice to see experience on each :
I would like to see common actions done on both devices/OS to see how they differ.
Ie:
1.Take a picture , crop the picture , and email to a friend. – go thru step by step
2. look up a restaurant by it’s name , then get direction for it.
3. Add a new contact – say you just met someone
4. Share the address of the restaurant you just looked up with 2 friends via text , and ask them to come by.
5. Set an alarm to wake you up on weekdays only at 5:30 am
6. Respond to a text MSG you just go. What are the steps
7. Make a grocery list and email it to your wife
8. Find the highest rated Thai restaurant in the area.
Go thru step by step and compare contrast the two.
Which takes more steps , which feels more fluid , etc.
Some of these things can be done in various ways on each phone , please show all of the different ways – this would be very helpful.

In the Camera section I would have added the auto skydrive feature and the sharing feature.
This is the best side-by-side showing that I have seen. Used it twice to help people decide all ready.

Great review! I have been using the Samsung Focus for a year now, and I’m still very impressed with it. Mango has really brought the Windows Phone platform to a worth level. I do like the idea behind Siri and look forward to seeing if Microsoft will expand the voice capabilities of Windows Phone; there is already a lot you can do with voice but it is command based and not natural language based. Its like the difference between Mac users and Windows users it will boil down to what in there mind they like better, both are capable systems just go about doing the same thing in different ways. I’m a PC and will always be a PC. 🙂

Good job with the review. I haven’t used the iphone but I noticed that inbox+calendar are much better looking on the iPhone. I guess this is why you have the impression that WP7 is boring and iPhone apps are prettier. But there are lots of good looking apps on WP7 much better looking than iOS thanks to the pivoting and background transitioning effect, try out the FoodSpotting app on WP7 and you will know what I mean.

You showed how the camera can be activated with the hardware button, but my favorite part of the WP camera is that you can TAKE a picture with the hardware button. Coupled with being able to do it from when it’s asleep, it makes the phone an ideal point and shoot camera that you end up taking with you everywhere for everyday picture taking and you never miss that important shot!
