Your PS3 Is Now Safe To Turn Back On
After a rediculous issue with the Playstation network caused many to be unable to use their “fat” PS3′s, Sony has given the go ahead to power it back on.
According to Joystiq it is safe to resume gaming. Here is a quick faq from joystiq to help you all relax from your MW2 withdrawl.
Sony Says DO NOT TURN ON YOUR PS3
For those of you not up to speed on the situation…Last night the Playstation network took a nosedive and caused quite a few PS3′s to not work as planned. As of now if you own the original or “fat” model of the PS3, Sony is saying do not turn it on until the bug causing the issue is fixed or it could result in data loss. If you have a PS3 Slim it looks like this is a non-issue for you and you can continue enjoying your gaming or video experience. For us that own the older model we will have to wait an estimated 24 hours until the bug is fixed and it will be safe to turn on our consoles.
Apparently the bug is due to a clock-related leap year issue that was forgotten by the programmers. As long as we don’t have a bricked PS3 I think we can deal without MW2 for a day or so, or maybe not…

Xbox Lowering Price of the 360 in Japan
Microsoft has had its ups and down with the Xbox in Japan. For the first time the Xbox has been selling better than the PS3. The trend started in August and Microsoft wants to keep the sales in Japan going strong. Traditionally it has been very difficult for an American game console to take hold in Japan and the Xbox 360 has so far continues to prove this correct.
To continue to grow its marktshare Microsoft is lowering the price in Japan on its different 360 models. The Xbox 360 Arcade is getting a price cut of $73.92 down to $182.72 or 19,800 yen, the Nikkei said. The Xbox 360 Arcade is the lowest model which lacks a hard drive but comes with games and a memory card.
"The new price will make that model cheaper than Nintendo’s Wii, which sells for about 25,000 yen, and the PlayStation 3, which sells for 39,800 yen."
Microsoft will also lower the higher end model with a hard drive by $46.14-73.83 or 5,000 to 8,000 yen.
"The company is scheduled to hold a briefing on the Xbox 360 in the Japanese market at 3:00 p.m. (2:00 a.m. EDT) on Monday."
